Solved: Why do power outages affect Comcast's internet ser My computers remain powered on, as does my modem. Upstream goes dark, however, and downstream begins flashing. The lack of signal persists until the local power grid comes back online. I assumed that business class service would make at least a minimal effort to survive the briefest outages. My question is whether my assumption should be correct. My internet goes out at the same time every day : techsupport My internet would go out for a solid hour at a time, although at seemingly random intervals. I finally figured out that every time I did laundry, my internet cut out. From there I discovered that any household item I used that had a motor (washing machine, treadmill, kitchen mixer) would effectively knock out my Internet (AT&T U-Verse).

These aren't all connected at once because that would be crazy. Even when it's just me on my desktop reading news while netflix on my Xbox 360 plays in the background, and a relative using a laptop it'll still cut out and it's really aggravating. All the coaxial connections in my home are fine. The router is an Actiontec MI424-WR Rev F. This is getting rather annoying now. I have been paying attention to it and notice that EVERY hour my internet drops for 5-10 seconds. This kicks me out of everything I'm currently doing. 9:00PM Internet cuts out. 10:00PM Internet cuts out. 11:00PM Internet cuts out. Getting pretty upset at
Don’t limit your internet use because your router can’t handle it – pick a router that can accommodate all of your connected devices and networking demands. Your Wi-Fi Signal Is Weak or Doesn’t Extend Far Enough Wi-Fi connections can easily drop when the connected device is located near the edge of your network’s wireless signal range.
